Andrew Cheong (Sir Cloud)

Andrew Cheong, known professionally as Sir Cloud, is a Malaysian esports commentator, educator, author and podcast host. His work connects competitive gaming with education, career development, youth culture and the long-term growth of esports in Malaysia and Southeast Asia.

My commentary and hosting work spans many mobile and PC esports titles. PUBG Mobile, Honor of Kings, Wild Rift and Dota 2 are representative examples rather than a complete list. I coached Brunei's national esports team at the 31st SEA Games and managed Malaysia's national esports team at the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia.

My Journey

1

The First Spark

Gaming first captured my attention because it combined competition, problem-solving and community. Over time, I became interested in more than playing. I wanted to understand the stories, teamwork, pressure and culture behind every match.

2

Finding My Voice

Creating educational Dota 2 content helped me learn how to explain complex ideas clearly. That experience led to livestreaming, hosting and professional commentary. Behind the microphone, I found a role that combines analysis, communication and a genuine love for competition.

3

Building Beyond The Game

Working across talent acquisition, broadcasts, teams, classrooms and community programmes showed me that esports reaches far beyond tournaments. It can create careers, strengthen transferable skills and give young people a sense of belonging when guided responsibly.

4

Turning Passion Into Profession

Today, my work brings together commentary, education, writing and community development. I want to make esports easier to understand, more useful to people entering it and more sustainable for the next generation.
